Roblox Is Becoming Way TOO Realistic...

Imagine a Roblox with a realistic physics engine, with a world with incredible graphics and a compelling story. It would be great..... and it could... happen. Kind of like how, say... Flash could be used to create some relatively impressive 2D sidescrollers, but people often had an undeservedly low opinion of the engine for the simple fact that it made game development sooooooo easy. WTF lucasmelor?? buen trabajo espero ver mas video como este ya que lonrot esta de vacaciones. recomiendo hablar del peso de los juegos o de los método anticheat de los mismo y como estos afectan el en rendimiento y la protección intelectual del juego.
It's not a walk down nostalgia lane because these dumb kids weren't even born when PS One was made or the 'big system'. It's annoying that they are trying to jump on a 'low res' trend, no you have your "realistic" video games that are just long-ass cut scenes, enjoy the garbage you have now. You do not get to enjoy the things we did growing up.
Tomb Raider on Sega Saturn was mind blowing .
‘’Just look at the, wetness’’ 💀😳
‘’Just look at the, wetness’’ 💀😳
The Big Catch is styled more like a PS2 game but happens to have closer to PS1 style graphics. It's not really reminscent of Spyro or Crash at all, it's more reminiscent of the Jak & Daxter series and Rayman 2.
We need this
PS1 style games - 1994 era graphics with 2024 system requirements.
Lmao, i love that you're talking about the ps1 aesthetic while showing off the saturn version of tomb raider 🤣💀
Snes and PS1 are the GOAT
You are wrong about Capcom not ever doing Dino Crisis again; they wouldn’t hold on to the IP, if they weren’t planning on something. 🤷♂️ And they constantly say that and RE: Outbreak are the most talked about. Just wait… They hear us.
Having grown up with these games, we have to remember that these were cutting edge graphics at the time. I think the lower bit games offer an increase in ambiguity and uncertainty, and it engenders imagination to fill in the lack of clarity. This works great for horror and adventure games. So for us who experienced it, a de-make is nostalgic and relatable, but it’s a completely different experience for Gen Z era games.
that first one reminded me of max pay ne
good video. got dino game on the mind now.
I’m having more fun on a Dreamcast with a GDEMU
The first silent hill was a perfect exemple…
hoping there would be demakes for ps2. felt like ps2 should be the base line for that old school graphics video game.
Man, i almost never comment in a video... But, this video is a Piece of Art! Congratulations for the amazing job you did here! Cheers!
I mean less is really more having to build something inside a tiny box really does tend to help. But also I feel that the 90s and early 2000s games are more life like... I spend a lot of time in VR worlds and I have been in super realistic worlds and worlds riped from ps1 games like RE1 or SH1 or Ape Escape and like sure I know its a game still but I do tend to get lost faster and for longer times in more ps1 style art or even non human worlds that being like voids or in a UFO or a acid fueled trip level. Maybe its just me being 31 almost 32 years old and being born in 92 I grew up in that age but I think its more then that but idk.
Ps1 was my first console and still my favourite of all time. Crash, Spyro and Tony Hawks Pro Skater series will always be my favourite and I'm so glad all of those were remade for the current generation so I could experience them again in a different way.
I miss how simple and low size games were. Sheer 500mb would get you a great experience. Everything was lost due to graphically impressive games. Most games to me seem to have a mediocre story and rely on graphics. The games are getting way too large now as well. Soon a gamer will need 1 petabyte to ensure they have space. it's insane to me. I think companies have lost all view on what gaming was supposed to be. Not sure any average person can afford that after a while.
cant wait till PS2 style aesthetics make a comeback
So long as companies like Nvidia keep forcing the market to keep pumping high spec requirements for games, and companies keep pushing politics into games, we won't see as many great releases as before, if at all. This is not just a product to sell, it is art, something that is going to outlive us all , it's a shame that we have had no release which uses the full potential of modern technology, who knows what can be made.
Retro look games are the worst thing to happen to gaming, they rank lower than paper straws. Hope this lazy game building trying to harp on nostalgia ends asap. Stupid & pathetic trend.
Part of me wants to go back to the 90s. The other part knows it would suck after one day...
I wasn't a fan of early 3d back then and I still don't like it. The 3do, Saturn, and PS1 all had that look and IMO that look has aged like milk. I liked Super Scalers like Outrun and After Burner. The first RE I thought that looked pretty good was Code Veronica and the first FPS was Golden Eye. Best way for me to sum it up is I think games like DK Country, SF2, Strider, look great today but RE1 and Dino Crisis? Yeah not so much.
i am still furious at western video game magazine editors and reviewers who basically forced companies to go into 3D before we needed to. as has been proven, 2D gaming is not dead and 3d graphics should never have been pushed on us until the mid 2000s at the earliest. to say nothing of PS1, n64 and saturn - even Dreamcast, xbox and ps2 shouldve been primarily 2D systems.
Ps1 is still the best console of all time fact xbox series x and ps5 are lame
magnificent video i feel sorry for this 70%+ who didn't had a ps1
PS1 and Saturn-era low polygonal art-styles? It's an aesthetic thing. Some people love the retro look for their games. Not every game has to be high definition 3D to be fun. :) Also, with advancements in technology available to pretty much everyone, a lot of the "flaws" (such as low definition textures, texture warping, screen tearing and collision issues, et cetera) that plagued this early era of 3D graphics no longer apply. It's the same with sprite-based games, these days; you can either create them from scratch using the "old methods", pixel by pixel, or you can turn a high definition 3D model into a sprite sheet (basically a modern form of what Westwood Studios did for their early RTS games). All can be done from a home PC and free or cheap software. It's wonderful. :D
01:59 Thank you. This is what fascinated me most when playing PS1 as a kid. Countless hours were spent exploring every corner of the map, trying to find secrets and figure out how it all worked.
I had a ps1 your viewer base is just mostly under 30
what the fps dino game?
I stopped playing games after 6 generation of consoles, actually i play only my collection of the 5 and 6 gen.
Great video but the take is off imo. Indie devs are just doing it cause it can be done cheaply and without large teams, that’s all. If somehow tomorrow there emerged some new technique that allowed small teams to cheaply make hyper-realistic graphics, the “PS1 resurgence” will die instantly. Keep in mind 90% of indie devs today were 0-5y/o during the PS1 heyday.
Who else enjoyed Celeste on the Switch. Was an enjoyable game, very challenging.
I don’t even think it’s fair to say it’s just because of nostalgia. It’s simply because soul was put into the older games that we don’t have today. We still have some games with good stories BG3 etc. but the majority are just cut and paste copies with good graphics stuck on top. Old games are different from each other, the stories are interesting. That is what is lost. Nobody wants to take risks anymore.
T
If we think about the interview with one of the creators of the original fallout (I don’t remember his name) he said that in the old days, they used to just put things on a whiteboard and everyone would get to work, that’s the passion they had. Today people are too scared to take risks or even handle the major parts of the game in case they mess up, so they don’t experiment, they just put the same copy and paste style from other games on it instead.
0:40 I swear Kinto Pet uses this same enviroment in one of the chapters. Neat to see it based on a real world location
for me if the art style looks good and runs 45fps and higher at1080p i could care less, dont need higher hd than 1080p 60fps for gaming
Fun Playstation 1 fact: the iconic texture warping actually is caused by a hardware related bug that messes up texture coordinate mapping. Its a neat effect, but not an intentional one.
Chunky 3D has always been my favorite.
Stall my ass from getting anything new before my 100 years on earth is up but at least make em 60FPS and dual analog support put astroworld with PS1 graphics but at 60FPS or online ps1 games I’ll be all over that but not so much into someone’s picky version but I like official stuff but with online play and 60FPS
i don't want realism i want a sexy art style
This guy is really in love with 1995.
An excellent video. It's actually the case that many games have lost their spirit. Lifeless beauty blender. like dating a Victoria's Secret model with an IQ of 65. The downfall of the gaming industry began when gaming became more and more accepted in society. When the developers became less courageous to try out new things and subordinated themselves to the greedy, profit-oriented publisher. As the general public slowly got rid of this idea that shooters make you a schoolyard terrorist. It was a blessing and a curse for us gamers because from then on fewer and fewer games were indexed, but commercialized. Games were good when players were still labeled as hikikomori or nerds. And they were assumed not to care about their own hygiene. When you still belonged to a subculture. It's nice to see that there are more people who are aiming to return to the old roots.
I miss when each console had its own distince "look" Ps1 had "wobbly graphics, N64 had smooth, blurry graphics, XBoX was a heavyweight, but bulky. Sprites and polygons intermixed. Nowadays, mkst mainstream games are made with middleware, giving everything a homogenized look. I get it from a production point...what do i miss the most from the "before times" of gaming? IrL Friendship, and the conplete lack of subscriptions
game devs doing everything to videos games except making them fun and have destruction physics. boring
5:10 It's because your audience are teenagers and their first console was PS4.
Love that you made this in 4:3
Interesting phenomenon maybe it's what you said about the imagination filling in the gaps, with photo realistic graphics there is no need for our imaginations.
