Roblox Is Becoming Way TOO Realistic...

Imagine a Roblox with a realistic physics engine, with a world with incredible graphics and a compelling story. It would be great..... and it could... happen. Kind of like how, say... Flash could be used to create some relatively impressive 2D sidescrollers, but people often had an undeservedly low opinion of the engine for the simple fact that it made game development sooooooo easy. I love this whole thing, but I feel like I’d hate to be a dev making a serious game on here because it’s 100% centralized. Unreal can’t take your game down, but Roblox has total control over everything. The only benefit I can see is that they provide all the servers and audience Ps. After seeing my 6 year old.. 6 years ago okay for a couple of years… it’s amazing Roblox is a public company and gotten away with so much copyright infringement and dodgy stuff 😂… People don’t realize it but Robbllx is like the early internet, a Wild West, but that will all go away when they start going nextget-Roblox and real serious games are being developed on it and Roblox is seriously running the equivalent of AAA games on it. They’ll have to clamp down on it. The point is there’s an opportunity now for indie devs that they get to do a lot of stuff that might not be around in the future.

the video I needed to see years ago. I dont know what it is. but something about this style of video look feels like an adventure and more real. enough to see/know whats going on. yet a little imagination left to fill in the gaps. also, nothing has ever beat the aww inspiring PSX boot up logo. I still love its greatness.

For myself, it's a strong dose of nostalgia to see low-poly models moving with their wobbling vertices across mostly empty levels, texture maps rarely exceeding 32x32; but beyond that I think it's because it does NOT look real, it somehow becomes more immersive, in the same way that a movie projected at 24FPS looks more "cinematic" than something at 60FPS, even tough the higher framerate is more lifelike. There is a point beyond which realism stops being an escape and begins to feel like a prison. Give me STYLE, damn it.

Old games is a good GAMES. No need to demake, what doesn't even consider as a game. You can't make ''GAME'' a GAME by demaking it. It's not about the graphics at all. It's about the gameplay, the mystery, the amazing soundtracks. We have good times, when we were putting our soul and mind into something. Today it's just about the money. People eat shit nowadays.

I feel older graphics have a bigger impact because of the otherworldly-ness of it. You can roll your eyes very easily at shitty hair or mouth movements on ps5, but everything in the late 90s/early 2000s era was bonkers because we weren't expecting realism

The first 3d console games were on the SNES. Star Fox for an example. Fully 3d games had been on the PC for even longer, but it was the Playstation, Nintendo 64, and Sega Saturn that really showed ppl what 3d can be. I was fuckin' blessed, my first experience w a 3d game was Final Fantasy 7.

I think this is why the PS3 and XBOX 360 era was so good. They still had graphical limitations while still focusing on style, story and substance. Think about it, Bioshock, Halo, Rachet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Diablo 2, WOW, heck, I'd even include Team Fortress 2 and COD4 in the same vain. Personally I think the 2000s were the golden age of video games and the PS1 days were something of a precursor to that.

For me what really kills games visually is resolution. Blocky low polygon models with muddy textures are fine for me as long as there aren't jagged edges from low resolution. Obviously classic games on classic hardware will be at a lower resolution, but making things smoother really makes it look so much better.

Good games are good games, no matter what. Consistency is very important to immersion, and simplicity let's you enjoy the core mechanics without bloating and diluting the actual fun. Also bigger detail require them to be damn good details, whereas pixelated style leaves just enough for the imagination to fill.

I don't think most people wanted that realism. I never did, anyway. The realer games become, the less I'm interested. The imagination is lost the more realistic games are. Capturing my imagination is much more important.

I don’t think what made ps1 games so good was primitive graphics, it was the creativity that went into gameplay. Similarly to movies of the 80’s and 90’s, they were so unique. People took risks. Now games and movies are made by big investment companies that just want to churn out profit on a narrow range of genres.
